Governance Documents
Documents governing the operation of the club
In September 2025 Scottish Athletics and JogScotland, to which we are affilliated, introduced a new registration scheme for running groups like ours. In essence this formalised the procedures and policies we are required to adhere to, especially in relation to welfare. We were also required to prepare a Club Constitution, something we have not previously had. In addition to adherence to these we, the club coaches, are also required to make all our members aware of the Constitution and also the welfare policies we are signed up to, as part of JogScotland/Scottish Athletics.
Four documents are relevant and these are:
- Beacon Club Constitution
- Scottish Athletics Club Disciplinary Policy and Procedures
- UK Athletics Codes of Conduct
- UK Athletics Adult Safeguarding Policy
The latter three documents are standardised to cover all athletics / running clubs and jogging groups in Scotland (the Disciplinary Policy) or the UK (Codes of Conduct & Safeguarding Policy). In other words they are not specific to us. Accordingly, they refer to some roles, such as 'Club Welfare Officer' which smaller groups such as ours don't have. JogScotland have confirmed to us that if welfare issues arise in our club that we are unable to manage or resolve internally, these can be referred to the JogScotland Welfare Officer.
In the event that any member of Beacon Running Club has a welfare concern relating to the club, we would ask that you raise this in the first instance with any one of our coaches, and we will seek to address and resolve it. If, however, you feel unable to raise it with us directly, you should direct your concern to the JogScotland Welfare Officer cited above.
